What seems to be more fun than sailing on a nice day with beautiful weather? For instance on the lake called Leekstermeer. You are sailing in a large natural and quiet area were you are far from civilization. Swinging reed, beautiful views and a lake that covers 220 hectares, offer silence and space to enjoy yourself at the fullest.

There are not many people sailing on the Leekstermeer and you will only find small boats. Besides that the depth of the lake is only 1.5 metres. It is ideal to learn how to surf or sail. But you can also sail out with a sailing boat or motorboat, a canoe, a whispering boat (a silent, environmental friendly electric boat), or a surfboard. Life jackets and waterproof containers can simply be hired.

At various places in the Westerkwartier you can hire canoes for making a trip through the historical narrow channels in the area. In many places one can find piers that are placed to offer you the ability to easily go on shore.
