Camping de Watermolen
Day 1( Friday):
From 15.00 you can arrive in the water-chalet -Camping de Watermolen. You will experience peace, space, nature and water. At arrival a nice bottle of wine is waiting for you.
You will have dinner at 18.00 at Kruisweg Marum. You can enjoy the special ‘Westerkwartier-menu’. Delicious local products from the villages of Sebaldeburen, Tolbert and Boerakker are being used.
Morning: free to do what you want (hiking, cycling, etc.).
13.00-17.00: Gallery Warempel in Grootegast. Get inspired in this special environment. After having done a guided tour, you will experience a workshop. This workshop is being provided by an artist and materials are included.
You will dine at Hotel Aduard, a four-course menu with meat from their own farm will be prepared for you.
11.00-12.30 brunch in the living room of ‘Tante Til’ in the village of Enumatil with Groningen mustard soup, homemade poffert and a drink.
13.00 visit to the Monastery Museum Bernardushof in Aduard
14.00 end of program
This package is available for the whole year, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The rest of the days are also possible, but one should request these days on forehand.
The Westerkwartier and its surrounding area offers a variety of attractions. From museums to estates, from nature to galleries. Nienoord estate has a large playground, a swimming palace and a national museum with carriages. The Coendersborgh, the national landscape Middag- Humsterland, the open-air museum, the Spitkeet and the museum farm Ot and Sien are examples of place worth visiting. Nature in the area:
Curringherveld (Kornhorn): a compact cultural historical landscape with unique oak wooded banks, pingos, ditches, field wet heath vegetation, rye fields with corn poppy and cornflower, flowery fields, and organic potato fields.
Jillt Dijksheide (Marum): is the only heathland in the Westerkwartier. Together with the Trimunt woods this is a natural reserve. Scottish highlanders and goats can be found in this area.
Leekstermeer (Leek): the lake and the surrounding area have a diverse bird life. The egret and the stork are guests that are often seen in the area. The lake is also brilliant for sailing or canoe.
